I Want That One

Because I look at you every day
And still think the same thought over and over again
The same thought that crossed my mind
The very first time I ever laid eyes on you
I want that one

Because I never run out of things to tell you
Because I want you to know everything
I want you to be intricately, intimately, inseparably
Entwined in every important moment that I experience

Because you inspire me to dream
Of becoming an old woman, wrinkled, gray, stooped
Who wakes up every morning to find you beside me
For almost forever, or as long as we can both manage to keep breathing

Because no matter what kind of argument we’ve had
I’m just waiting for it to end
So I can wrap myself up in your arms again
Where I belong

Because I’m always waiting for you
Hoping to catch as many glimpses of you as I can
Hoping to catch your eye as many times as I can
Hoping to steal as many kisses from you as I can
Hoping I can do whatever it takes to capture your heart
Over and over again, as often as I can

Because you know who I am
And I know who you are
And I still want you
And you still want me
And that makes everything worthwhile
